Pearks
Pearks was one of the first supermarkets in Wolverthampton to start trading. I worked there in 1962. My name was Marain Beech, I went on to marry a former work colleague, Chris Rutter.
Cheese was cut up on the premises, and so wa bacon. Many happy times. Does anyone else remember working there? The supermarket was in Queen Street. Names I remember are Elsie, John Volmer, Diane Cassey, Maurice Joan, Mickey Cullen, John Mills. Manager was Mr Tustin.

RE: RE: Pearks
I too worked at Pearkes in 1963 for about 8 months. My job was cheese cutting and cellar and warehouse work, and names that come to mind from that time are the Peters twins, Jean and Shiela, Margaret (Freda) Cherrington, Margaret(Dolly)] Dutton, Christine (Sophie) Tanner, Mrs Noden, Mickey Fradley, Mrs Lewis, Jean Selvey, Diane Casey, Elsie Ramsbottom, Maurice and Joan, Lynn Rickoo, and Rita ??, Kitty Wallace and little Jackie. There were quite a few of this type of shops in that area of Queen Street and Dudley Street at the time and jobs were plenty. Does anybody have photographs from that era of that part of Queen Street that ran between Dudley Street and Market Street?
