RE: RE: What Was There Before The AB Metals Factory?
The land was compulsorily purchased from my grandparents Morris and Ethel Davies. Before the purchase it was part of their farm and my grandparents continued to live at the farm until their deaths in 1960's. It was then sold to (I believe) the council.

I remember back in the old days, the 1940s and early 1950s, before milk bottles were used by Mr. Davies The Farm of Avondale Street, being sent to the farm with a two pint jug to purchase milk. Most of the time you were dealt with by Mrs. Davies, but on other occasions a lovely elderly lady served the milk. I am not quite sure whether this lady was either Mr. or Mrs.Davies's mother. Milk was served from a large ceramic urn in the outhouse, the cream of the milk was always laying on the urn surface which made my mouth water. It would be then mixed with the milk and served.
