Childhood Memories of Rookery Park

Rookery Park c1960

My grandparents were William and Ruby Balls who worked at Rookery Park and lived there all their lives. The Hamblings were very good to them and they retired in peace through to the 1980s. As a kid I had many happy memories helping my grandad with the chickens and exploring the extensive grounds. Does anyone remember them?

RE: RE: Childhood Memories of Rookery Park

Having lived in Clockhouse II from 1975 to 1978 and then in Lakenheath Village from 1980 to 1985, Billy and Ruby became two of the most important, most beloved people in our lives...surrogate parents to us, a third set of grandparents to our children. Many of the happiest memories of our lives are associated with these two wonderful people. And The Rookery!!! How unbelievably blessed we were to have lived there and to have become part of their family.
