My husband recently took me on a trip down Memory Lane to Ash Vale. I am 76 years old and can remember everything so vividly, having been evacuated there during the war years. I owned a terrace house in wharf road in the 1970"s. Many properties have been demolished.On the corner of Balmoral Road is now a supermarket also there is a huge furniture shop where Tolleys garage once was A parade of shops are on the opposite side of the road where the canal is. It still remains a lovely village,although some would now call it a mini town.

My grandfather owned a house in Charthouse Road, Ash Vale. It was the last house on the left. My mother grew up in this house along with two brothers and two sisters until she was married.
