There were once at least two inns close to Littleham church. The Plough Inn was demolished to allow for the extension of the graveyard, leaving the New Inn a few yards further down towards the sea. Notice the cockerel weathervane - happily still in place half a century onwards.

We camped at Littleham, with only my immediate family in the farmer's field. We collected straw from the farmer, and stuffed our palliasses for beds. The straw was returned to the barn when we left. Each morning my sister and I went up to the farmhouse to collect milk. Mother cooked "proper" meals on a petrol cooker and a Primus stove.
