We are looking towards the west end of the Market Place. The two tailors and outfitters businesses, John Collier and J E Hall, sit side-by-side, next to the Home & Colonial Tea Store. In the foreground can be seen the underground toilets, which were later filled in.

My grandfather ran the Nene Inn for Elgoods brewery around 1900 to 1914. My father was born there in 1903. Pubs long gone but Elgoods let me have the original name plate .
I enjoyed seeing the photo graphs of the Wisbech canal and especially those showing Trafalgar Row and the river bank with English Brothers wood yard and a coaster moored along side. My family and I are convinced I am the man walking next to the man in the jacket and tie who appears to have his arm around a child. The Austin A40 pick up truck in the foreground behind the telephone box could be the one I owned at about that time.
