Friedrich Zelnik in Harrow
Unfortunately, I have never stayed at the beautiful Harrow.
But I'm very interested in Harrow because I'm looking for a house where the German director and producer Frederick (Friedrich) Zelnik and his wife, the actress Alexandra Zelnik (her stage name was Lya Mara) lived. They probably built their own house in Harrow in 1936. I have taken this from the "Reports oft the Town Planning Committee" of December 3, 1935. Under "Name of Applicant" it says: "L. C. Norton for F. Zelnik". The address given by the residents' register of 1939 is: "Alexandra House The Hill". In the "London Gazette" of 14 June 1940 the following address is given:
"Zelnick, Friedrich, known as Frederick
Zelnik; Of no Nationality; Film Producer;
Alexandra House, Stanmore Hill, Middlesex.
3 May, 1940."
After the death of Friedrich Zelnik in 1950 Alexandra Zelnik lived in "Stanmore Hill, Dower House 114". Does anyone know if these buildings still exist and where they stand? Can anyone remember Friedrich and Alexandra Zelnik? And can anyone get anything out of the name "L. C. Norton"? I am very grateful for every hint.
