More about this scene

Named for Lulworth Castle, over the hill at East Lulworth, the old hostelry at West Lulworth is an 18th- century thatched building behind a neat wooden fence. Landlady Mrs Ann Winzar Dorey was followed by Mrs Phoebe Harvell. Beside the Castle Inn are cottages (right) of a similar date with a third - adjoining to the east - being from a century earlier. The view is north-westwards to West Down (top left).
