More about this scene

This Norman hall has only recently stopped being used as a magistrates' court. Here the visitor can find a remarkable collection of horseshoes in all sizes, for the tradition of the town requires all nobility, including members of the Royal Family, to present a horseshoe when visiting Oakham. The sovereign's gift is placed immediately above the magistrate's chair.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

Not 100% sure if it was 1966 or 67, but I do remember that the castle roof was covered with a tarp for quite some time after lightening hit the castle during a storm.
