The family name is DAVIES, they lived in Penygraig, Pontlottyn and Clarendon Row, Rhymney in 1940, after the death of the mother they were taken to the Pontypridd Cottage Children's Home. Five of the children went to the home. If anyone has any information it will be appreciated.
The family name is Davies, they lived in Penygraig, Pontllotyn and Clarindon Row, Rhymney. We belive they lived near the stone works. Five of the children went to the homes at Pontypridd owing to the death of their mother. If anyone reading this has any information, it would be appriciated.
My father was born and bred in Pontlottyn, his name was David Llewellyn Morgan, known locally as Dewi. He worked for many years on the railway at Rhymney station, but I have early memories in the start of the 1960s when as a small child he used to take me with him, usually on a Saturday morning, to Pontllotyn cinema where he would show the films. I know from my grandmother who has since died that the Fogg family originated from Pontlottyn but the problem I have is there are very few people who remember the mine that apparently my great grandfather worked in. If there is anyone reading this that could help me with the Fogg name in that area then it would be most appreciated.
I have a cinema programme for the New State Cinema at Pontlottyn for August 1964. Showing on August 3 for three days only - 'From Russia With Love'. Also showing what we used to all the little picture, that was 'Five Guns to Tombstone'. There are just one of the 9 films showing that month. It also has names of the then shops. For example, Violet Jenkins newsagents, T Paxton fruit, the Royal Stores ...see more
