Our Archivist has been looking into this - it looks as though the name changed in the 1960's from Oxford Street to Oxford Road. Regards, Editor.

As I recall, it was Oxford Street from the crossroads with The Butts, Cheapside and Broad Street, up until the road just past McKilroy's, then it became Oxford Road.
