Cycling Through Brentford
A Memory of Brentford.
Cycling over Kew Bridge I turn left towards Brentford. I feel anticipation of passing through an interesting town. First on the left is the Gasworks. I get a liitle bit of soot in my eye. I pause at the big green gates and look in. Always something going on, and the smell was never to be forgotton. Opposite was a newsagents shop, this featured in a fifties black and white film. A trolleybus stops and a man gets off and crosses the road to go into the shop, what was he buying ? Ten woodbines perhaps. Presently on my right is the pawnbrokers, was it Ratenburys, anyway I stop and admire the wonderful bow fronted window. I turn right by the Beehive pub and head on towards Hanwell.
