More about this scene

The parish church stands on the hill. Illingworth was at the time of this photograph a village on the edge of the Pennines north of Halifax, but is now a suburb of the city. The handsome Talbot Inn at the foot of the hill recalls a prominent local family. The inn sign, seen on the extreme right of this photograph, shows a foxhound, perhaps indicating the family's hobby.

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I used to live at the Talbot Inn. In fact, it was the one and only time I have ever had a ghostly experience, I loved the place. My Dad, was the Landlord. I cried when I found out they had demolished it in 2009. So many happy memories xxxxx
