A Memory of Rothwell.

I visited the Bluebell Inn and spent only a modest amount, however I left half a crown as a tip because of a very nice waitress. I left and had walked about two blocks, when the lady chased me down to thank me. I was quite surprised at this, but managed to remain calm and smiled graciously. Told her that if I came again to the Bluebell, I would surely look her up.

Born in Kettering I have lived in Rothwell for the last 10 years. The main thoroughfare is Bridge St. which leaves the Kettering road and ends up leading to Glendon going past the Bluebell pub. Not noticing any visual evidence of a bridge and certainly no stream as Bridge St. is halfway down a steep hill. The local stream is at the bottom of the hill some quarter of a mile away. I asked at local shops and then Rothwell Heritage centre about the bridge. No one had any idea, in fact a lady in attendance at the centre told me she had often wondered where the bridge in Bridge St. was and had never found an answer even though the centre has much detail about Rothwell history going back many hundreds of years. Having researched what I could on the web I am still no wiser. Anyone have any clues?
