Woolwich, Shooters Hill
From Chris Johnson,
This photograph is of Woolwich Common near General Gordon's House looking towards the Royal Military Accademy on the road towards Eltham. These houses are not there anymore and the 1960's Woolwich Common Estate now stands there and the blue plaque that was on General Gordon's house is now in the Heritage Centre in the old Arsenal.

Yes, I remember these houses. My family lived in Charlton nearby, I used to play in a rock group in the early 1960s and used to practice in the guitarist's house down one of the roads on the left. I remember the housing estate being built there too.

This picture brings back memories. Hi Pete, remember me, I played in one of your many bands back then. I lived down in Jackson Street in the 1960s. We used to practise in a pub at the end of Jackson Street. I knew a girl named Sally who lived on the second floor of the General Gordon's building on the left. I am now teaching guitar after a lifetime of playing. Good to hear from you.
