School Days And Friends-Normanton Girls High School
The Beta class was never a teacher's favourite, but we enjoyed being just that little bit riotous. I remember cycling to school and leaving the bicycle in the bicycle shed and it was always there at end of school. Friends like Frances Walmsley, Janet Codner, Sylvia Crewe, Jean Sargent, Janis Timms, Christine Friend, Lorraine Phelps, Doreen Brain and many more. Tennis in the park and the Saturday school tennis matches. I Know Frances moved to Australia, if anyone does know any contacts for her or any of the above old girls I would love to hear from you. Does anyone remember Beckbridge Estate prefabs. The estate social club, built by my dad and many of the other dads on the estate. Those were the days. Please contact me if possible on E-mail Sandrarikela@hotmail.co.uk.

RE: RE: School Days And Friends-Normanton Girls High School
I was also in the Beta class but one year below Sandra. I knew Francis Walmsley from school but also later when she returned from Australia to live in Kirkthorpe. She came to my Mother & Toddler group with her little girl in Kirkthorpe and we used to talk about old times at the High School. She then returned to Australia after only a few years. I also did one of my teaching practices in 1977 when it was a middle school. It was very strange going into the old staff room and my old classroom where I was working!! We had a class reunion in 1988 and the B class came along too as did Miss Temple, Miss Selwood, Miss Tolson (I've forgotten their married names) and a few other teachers. I remember Miss Temple and Miss Tate as real tartars but we did our work even if we were a bit cheeky to one or two of the teachers! Joan Lythgoe organised the reunion so Sandra may know her. I see only a few old girls and am still in close contact with a couple - Pat Kirk and Lorraine McBride. It would be lovely to hear from anyone around year of 1959/60. GlynnisWilson( Jones)
