I was born in 1948 and lived in 45 Dorothy Road. I remember Mrs Hutchins shop on the corner and Sid's sweetshop on the corner of Amies Street and Latchmere road. Near the end of Amies Street opposite Sabine Road a man paid for waste paper of which there was a shortage in the early 50's. I was only about 4 at this time but went out with a group of older children knocking on doors asking for old newspapers. The man asked us if we had put rocks in the bundles of newspapers. We played in yard of the electric company which we accessed over a bombsite. This is now where you access the superstore. In those days we would go down to the stables in the railway yards. We also went in the bombed out cinema on Lavender Hill. I went to Shaftsberry Park infant school. We left Dorothy Road in about 1954.
My mum's cousin lived in 45 Dorothy Road, definitely in 1965 but I don't know for how long. Her mum and dad and my great nan lived in 46 Dorothy Road at the same time. I was born in 3 Amies Street in 1965. I also went to Shaftesbury Park School. I remember Sid's shop on the corner.

To Marion Shakespeare - I remember the surname Shakespeare but I think that's more from my mum's memories. My family name was Curtis. I'm pretty sure you would have known my mum, although she is 11 years older than you, so maybe not...
