The Coastguards Cottages

A Memory of Blundellsands.

I remember the coastguards cotteges at the bottom of Mariner's Road. They were on my way to school. When they were demolished, I was about seven years of age and my friends and i would play in the foundations which were there for some time. It wasn't until about 1970 that the bungalows that are there now were built.

Like Mr Somers, I can remember Crosby Baths being built - I can still remember the dirtyrainwater that filled the pool as it didn't yet have it's roof on. Is the Mr Somers who has commented here related to a Mr Somers who taught at Waterloo Grammar School (my former alma mater) - I seem to remember he lived in Mariners Road.

If you mean the bungalows just inland from the baths I remember cycling down there on Saturday mornings in 1968 or 69 to watch them being built. .
