This view looks north from the corner of Pier Street past the Queens Hotel, now painted to protect the rapidly- eroding stone work, towards the short pier; its pavilion-roofed structure is now named The Pavilion and houses amusement arcades, cafes and the like. The stone balustrades and small front gardens have all gone, and there are modern projecting single-storey frontages beyond the Queens Hotel for Sun Spot Amusements.

The Dreaded Yellow Lines

I remember riding my bike around in Burnham on the day the yellow parking lines were painted. So this would date the picture to mid 60s say 1965 give or take a year. That's pretty close.

Happy Memories
The lady in the picture is my nan connie ( now deceased) . We spent many happy years in Burnham on sea as my nan had a caravan nearby. My parents are still regular visitors .

Early Recollections
Amongst my earliest memories of Burnham-on-Sea are those of being in the forge of my grandfather's blacksmith's shop, he was Mr Welland, watching him shoeing horses. After the work was done he would hoist me up onto the horses' backs getting my pretty little dresses very dirty. Needless to say, Mum was never best pleased when she saw the state I would be in!

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
