A Memory of Chatteris.

I have many memories of Chatteris, many good times and some sad. But looking at the photos of Chatteris back in the day, it has changed little from then to my days there. But I loved the place and loved the people. Coming originally from London I thought I would have a difficulty settling in. But I was amazed by people's generosity and heartfelt respect that they have for you. I met some amazing people and enjoyed my time there immensely. I wish I had never moved at times. I met my late husband there, he was a Chatteris boy born and bred. Malcolm Hobbs was his name. I idolised his family and they soon became mine. I was welcomed even by the matriarch of the family, although she took a little more convincing that I was not as she nicely put it "your typical bloody londoner." She realised that I was a family person and wanted to be involved with them. My mother and father in law were the salt of the earth and I miss them as much as my late husband greatly. Chatteris will always have a place in my heart. The Hobbs family were always my family and always will be as much as Chatteris ever was.
