Fond Memories

A Memory of Church Crookham.

I attended attended Church Crookham C of E School, Gallyhill Road from 1946-1952. It was a lovely school and I enjoyed being there. I used to walk to school every day from 179 Aldershot with my friend and even though it had army barracks and national service personnel there was never any fear for our safety. I was there with Rosemary Dudley whose father was caretaker and keeper of Tweezledown race course. I was christened at the C of E Church and was married there in 1960. It is a lovely church and the vicar at that time was very caring and helped me through my confirmation. I can't remember his name. I was in the WRNS when I married and had 2 schoolfirends as my bridesmaids, Rosemary Dudley and Iris Lupton, it would be so nice to find them and correspond about those happy times. We learnt semaphore and put on a display at an open day, one year we had a maypole and learned dances and also put on a display for an open day. It would be nice if anyone out there reads this and remembers me Yvonne Jones. I would love to hear from you. Happy Days

Yvonne Nicolson (nee Jones)
