Mill Street School
A Memory of Crewe.
Having left Crewe in 1958, although I have been back a few times since then, seeing these photographs has triggered a lot of good memories.
I have positive memories of Mill Street, teachers like Brian West and a Mr Riley, Mr Mcandless the headteacher. We had a good football team at the time and I am sure we did well at other sports.
Our playing fields were in Manor Way I think, but I remember playing a game at a ground on the other side of Crewe, was it Goddard Street, it had a dreadful playing surface I recall.
Crewe in the 1950's was a good place to grow up in, the days trainspotting at the junction, following the Alex, and playing in the woods over by the railway to Nantwich - now covered in housing. That's progress.
