More about this scene

In this carefully composed picture we see the lower part of the village. The two men, one holding the horse and one with his dog, are everything a photographer could want in a village scene. The two ladies sitting on the grass add charm to the picture, which is typical of Downham; it is a well managed, working village that has not forgotten its history. The 15th century church has some very fierce-looking gargoyles.
