East Barsham And Constance Evelyn Everett

A Memory of East Barsham.

My only recollection of East Barsham was in 1961 when my then boyfriend, now husband of nearly 50 years, drove past the gate and pointed out "Thats where mother was born".

Since then I have visited East Barsham a couple of times, taken photos from the gate, on return to Norfolk from New Zealand where we now live.

I have been very involved in Ancestry since 2008, only last year came across a copy of a photo a relative sent me, the photo has no name and the people in the photo not identified.

After enlarging the photo and comparing with family members it has become obvious that the people are John Watson Everett junior, aged about 11 or 12 born 1895, the son of John Everett senior and his first wife Ellen Watson. John Watson Senior with daughter, Constance Evelyn Everett aged about two and a half maybe three, sitting on his knee the daughter of second wife Katherine Emily nee Price, she is seated, if some distance to the left of her husband. Its certainly not the close family photos we see to day. However Constance on her father's knee, dipicts a favorite child. I know Constance adored her father.

The photo back ground compares with those of East Barsham Manor the year about 1907/8

John Everett is still living there in 1911 census.
I am happy to share this photo.
