Curly Butter
A Memory of Fornethy Residential School.
I went here wi my wee sister roughly 1975, I was 8 n she was 3, we went on a bus from buchanan St.
I think our dorm was called ambrosia, top of the stairs & along to the right, I think there where 6/8 beds in it, I remember the wee floral pinnies, I remember loads about this place 😔 I remember that miss fletcher & Mrs lockie, she was an older woman. There where guinea pigs in the garden (starsky & hutch.
I remember going into the dinning room & seeing the staff table(full width of the room) laid wi table clothes/silverwear/ glassware & CURLY BUTTER in silver butter dishes, I knew then these ppl weren't to be fkd with( tes at that early age I knew) I've got loads of memories from then, big John & wee John the gardeners, first time I'd tasted fresh corn on the cob straight from the field. Church on a Sunday. Them long walks 😲 being left to stand in the library the whole night( wee blue light at night) I was a bed wetter which was horrendous, oh god I could go on n on
