More about this scene

Fountains Hall in the Fountains estate was begun in 1742, and completed twenty years later. All the stone used in the building came from the ruins of the abbey, a hundred yards away. The Hall was lived in until the late 1950s. It was then acquired by the National Trust, who use it for an exhibition centre on this World Heritage Site.
