Hatches

A Memory of Frimley Green.

I remember paddling in the stream and enjoying lazy days of peace and quiet. The hatches were then grazing land with cattle. You then could see the abbey and grounds in the distance, we then watched them dug out and they made way for gravel pits. A little lad drowned in the lakes.

my family moved here in 1968. we the children used to play over on the hatches.till the gravel pits were dug out .after the lad drowned the family placed memorial plate on the old tree which had been used by the children swinging to and fro over the lake. quite sad event. the abbey looked beautiful especially in autumn rays of sunshine
