More about this scene

Heading due west for two miles, once again the topography shows that we are just outside the Rhondda proper. The complete breadth of the hillside supports a great acreage of woodland, which seems a little too neat for nature and thus could well be a forestry plantation. The rest of the picture consists of a newly built housing estate of rendered semi-detached houses. The rough scrub just needs landscaping and it would be a fine place to live.

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

This photograph shows the newly built council houses called Danybryn.  The houses were much sought after by the mining community as they had bathrooms.  My parents lived in number 5 and thought their  house was wonderful even though the rent was expensive for the time £1.15 shillings a week.
