Lots Of Films
A Memory of Gillingham.
I started working at the Plaza just after I left school as rewind boy, later becoming a projectionist, where I stayed till national service. I showed the films at the camp cinema in the evenings in my last 15 months. Demobbed, I started back at the Plaza till 1965 when I joined the other cinema, Odeon, till it changed to Classic. I was there then till it closed in 1977 and was lucky to show the last reel of film. After, we went to Bingo, not liking that I left for another job, but managed to get back to the Plaza for evening shows, staying there until that closed in the beginning of 1980. Once again I was lucky to show the last reel there, where I stated my first job. Getting redundant from my main job I went back to Bingo where I trained for calling, doing that till I retired in 1998.
