Brandling Park, A Little Park, Between The Moor And Gosforth

A Memory of Gosforth.

This was called Tittie Bottle park because all of the Nannies met there with children in their prams
from the nobs houses at that end of Gosforth

There was no Tittie Bottle Park. I think your memory has become mixed up slightly.
Tittie Bottle corner was a semi-circular seating area at the entrance to the Moor and next to Moor Crescent. This was where the nannies came and sat or walked their charges. Brandling Park was opposite the exhibition park on the East side of the Great North Road.
You are right it was the semi circular seating area and brandling park had the large paddling pool for small yachts and windy up clockwork boats that always ran out when they were in the middle.
Thanks for the correction.
Learnt to row a boat across the road in the Exhibition Park and caught my first tiddlers there
Yeah I too regularly rowed on the lake and we fished for tiddlers and minnows with our nets and a jam jar with a loop of string for carrying it. Fish quite often diseased with large lumps attached. They rarely lasted long in the fishbowl. Nets were made from a cloth flour bag and a loop of wire attached to a long cane.
