1950 Child Born In Primrose Crescent, Harold Hill

A Memory of Harold Hill.

My parents were rehoused after the WWII in prefabs. We were the Theobald, Reg, Dave me Christine and then in 1958 my sister Sylvia. My parents were Reg & Betty. I went to Hilldean Infants & Juniors and eventually to Harrowfield Girls Secondary Modern. Remember Rossi ice cream, the coal delivered on the horse and cart, maypole dancing competitions, and area sports days. We moved to Kingsbridge Road in 1960 and I then went to Mead School. Mrs Lonsdale from Hilldean was also moved to Mead Infants. She was great. Remember the scramble to be the one to walk round with the "COME IN" board at playtime. Only hate was the Malt on spoons every child had to have. As I got older attended the newly built youth house thru Albemarle. Fantastic place which would have a place these days. Met my husband Martin Langley there and now been married 43 yrs, 3 sons and 7 grandchildren. Harrowfield nightschool also enabled us to learn touch typing, shorthand as well as a Friday night Band dance. Local talent and brilliant. Among my friend were Linda Leverett, Linda Walker, Margaret Dorsett, Sheila Miller, to name but a few.

Hi Christine,My name is KathyJeffreys nee Kemp. I was born in Oldchurch Hospital in 1958 and lived in St Neot's Road Harold Hill with my parents Kit and George Kemp and my brothers George, John, Tony and Alan. I went to Mead Infants and Juniors and then to Neave. I remember your sisters name Sylvia Theobald! I'm not sure if it was from primary school or secondary? How is she? My best friend throughout school was Linda Cousins. I loved playing out, climbing trees, knock down ginger, ditch jumping and playing jacks!

Hi I am Geoffrey Kelly born April 1950 in Oldchurch hospital Romford and I lived with my parents at 5 primrose crescent until I was eleven, I went to hilldene infants and junior school on straight road. I have an older brother John at eleven we moved to Daventry road quite close to broxhill school I also had a friend Linda and I think her surname was Clatworthy. But on leaving Broxhill we moved to Chelmsford and then I went into the Army. My brother stills lives quite local in Emerson Park whereas I live close to Windelsham in Surrey

Kathy Kemp you were in the year below me at Mead school. My name is Marion Allen (was Parkes) I remember you because I was also a friend of Linda Cousins (we were neighbours). I often wonder where Linda is. She left Harold Hill and went to live in Hackney, I think she joined the police force but unfortunately we lost touch. Do you hear from her?

Hi christine, I remember you, I was Janet Pizzie, in the same year as you, I remember Linda Walker, Sheila Miller, Margaret Dowsett. I married a Brentwood boy, Michael Norris had 2 girls and have 2 grandsons and a granddaughter.
