Marlands
A Memory of High Halden.
Does anyone have memories of Marlands in the early 1960's?
It was owned by the 'Simpsons' and operated as a boarding school. Like me, most (if not all) of the children, were in the care of local authorities, coming to Marlands from children's homes around the south of England.
In 1962-63, I remember Mr 'Simbo' Simpson, Mrs Simpson and their adult sons.
I also remember the single teacher (Donald?) attached to Marlands, who used to lodge in the village and drive his Sunbeam Talbot down the long driveway to Marlands.
So, can anyone shed any light on the Simpsons or other people that would have had an association with Marlands at that time?
Don't hesitate to reply. It would be good to fill in some of the gaps in my childhood.
