Tracing Hockley Hodges And Guy Families
A Memory of Hockley.
I am trying to trace descendents of a branch of my father's family - the Hodges and the Guys. They lived and died at 35 and 42 Great Eastern Road, Hockley, Essex in the late 50s until at least 1975. The family originate from Islington and Highbury, and Bermondsey before that.
I'm hoping that people in the area may remember the family and help me with finding any of my surviving distant cousins, if they had offspring!
Brief details of the Hockley Hodges. Arthur Edwin Hodges (1873 - 1960) a sporting gun stocker, who married Lydia Lily Stephens in Islington in 1895. They had at least two children; Lydia May Hodges (1896 - 1975) who married James Sidney Guy (died 1958) and had daughters Barbara Guy (b.1932) and Jean Guy (b.1934). The other child of Arthur and Lydia was Arthur Stephen Henry Hodges (b.1903 - still living in 1960), a civil servant. Not sure if he married or if he was in Hockley.
Although I have friends in Wickford, and West Essex, I don't know the Rochford or Hockley area.
Thanks in advance,
Robert Hodges
