100 Years Of Swansborough's Living In Hurtmore
A Memory of Hurtmore.
My Grandad Cecil Robert Swansborough moved into Hurtmore in 1924, he is first registered at 1 Kersland Cottages.
They moved to 21?Quarry Cottages now 38 Quarry Road. They were then moved into number 3 Quarry Cottages now 51 Quarry Road. Grandad moved out of the family home (51) into the ground floor flat at no.42 Quarry road in 1962. My Dad William (Bill) Swansborough remained in the family home with his wife Jean until he passed away in February this year (2023). Jean is still living there. Next year 2024 we will be celebrating 100 years of the Swansborough family living in Hurtmore.
Over the past 100 years there have been many happy memories, as children we explored the woods and fields surrounding the village.
Village life is not the same now but we have our cherished memories.
