Frederick Corder,
A Memory of Ipswich.
These are my memories of Ipswich in Early 1960 I had been working in Ilford on C & A Modes new shop. when the job there was finished i was sent to Frederick Corders shop in Tavern Street, Ipswich, to help out with the shopfitting renovations which for me was 2 weeks work. I was 20 and an apprentice Shopfitter.
I cannot remember where i lodged, it was in a rank of terraced houses, we bedded down in one house and had our meals in a house next door ( same owner ) , these two houses were connected by way of a cellar, it was very basic accommodation, the meals though i would say were very substantial.
The one thing that surprised me was the Dart board, it was divided up differently and was made of Plasticine, the sections were separated by ribbon strips buried in the plasticine.
