This frontage was designed by Christopher Wren when William III turned the then Nottingham House into his residence. Being asthmatic, the King needed this 'country house' to enable him to enjoy clean air. Here Queen Victoria was born, brought up and became Queen. Queen Mary, our present Queen's grandmother, was also born here.
