Childhood Memory Of Kingennie House
A Memory of Kingennie House.
1942-1945 I , Nancy Callachan was sent there by Dr Cuthbert DUNDEE because I had asthma and
Bronchitis and lived in the slums of Likybank Road Dundee.My father Gorge Hendry Callachan was in France Ww11 and .my mother Annie Burnett stayed home with my 4 brothers in a 2 room tenement house iLilybank Road Dundee.
We were well cared for .School half day by 2 teachers Misses Duncan who lived locally.My father died .My mother received a War Pension .She cared for us very well and always emphasised education.I became a teacher and taught in Newtyle School for 17 years.We then emigrated to Utah where I taught 29 years.I married an airman Bill Shaw.. We met at RAF Craigiebarn Broughty Ferry..We have 3 daughters and one son.All in USA.Sadly my husband died 1993. I am now 85.
Still tutoring in my daughters classroom.
