More about this scene
Many of the shops in this photograph have gone, not surprisingly. Bendy's Stores is no longer there, nor is Bishops Cycles and Motorcycles on the right. The Bricklayers Arms is still a pub – it was one of my regular haunts at one time. The old sign depicting Simonds Brewery can just be seen. Today, the pub clientele is mainly made up of young people and professionals.
