Terriers At Newhaven Harbour
A Memory of Newhaven.
In the late 1960's we spent many days ( and nights) fishing off the west side harbour arm. Much to my delight there were two railway lines running along for a good length for a good way out. There were still lots of signs of all the other tracking in the area and leading up to the main line. The track on the arm, I believe was mounted on chairs and bolted down in the concrete as opposed to that of the middle section of the harbour that was on a level with the surface and as a result much of that is still there.
In the summer months a funfair used the central area and the tracks were very evident between the stands! Many years ago a friend lent me a video of the Terrier engines and trains working on the branch, which included a cab ride on the arm! I believe that my friend had borrowed the tape as I do remember I had to return it promptly. His wife, gave me, after he had died, his video collection and it is not with these.
Any information about Loco's that worked on the branch and any film/books etc would be appreciated.
