More about this scene

The village of Northchapel, which is situated 5 miles north of Petworth, was formerly a chapelry of Petworth, and only became a parish in its own right after an Act of Parliament in 1693. The old half-timbered Swan Inn (centre left) has now been renamed the Deepwell Inn. On the right is Old Forge Cottage, which adjoined the blacksmith's shop.
