Not Sure Why, But This Popped Into My Head This Morning ...

A Memory of Purley.

Not sure why, but this popped into my head this morning. We lived in Purley from 1962 to 1964, having arrived from Canada. After 1964 we moved to Bournemouth (now in Dorset, then In Hants).

What suddenly popped into my head this morning was that I was trying to remember the name of the school that I attended. I think that it was located at the top of the High Street where it split off from the Brighton Road. I checked Google Maps and found nothing there now, which isn’t totally surprising. I believe that there was another campus of the same school that my younger brother attended that was located north on Brighton Road. I check where I thought that school was located, and found a school called Christ Church School.

What I am wondering is my recollection correct that the two locations were the same school, and if so was that the name back then. If not, does anyone remember what the name was for a school located on the high street.

We lived up on Peaks Hill Road, Number 6, also known as Four Stacks (check it out on Google Earth and you’ll see why).

The school in the High Street was Christ church primary school, I went there. Just before I left the had started to move the school to its present site.
So we would have been there at approximately the same time. I was there from 1962 to 1964.

Thanks for confirming my hazy memories.
