Mr Cavanagh Teacher At Rippingale School

A Memory of Rippingale.

My name is Owen Cox,and i lived in Dovecote estate from 1966-1970 approx. A man i shall always remember fondly is Mr Cavanagh who ran the school with his wife Joan. A wonderful man, teacher, and human being. When my dad had to go into Addenbrookes hospital in 1969 for major brain surgery ,Mr Cavanagh was a tower of strength to me .He would come and have his dinner with me at my desk, and was so comforting in all he did ,and said.

My class mates at the time were Florence Coddington, Vera Guttridge, Neil Laxton, to name but a few.

Unfortunatly, dad left hospital totally blind, but thankfully alive. we moved back to the north east of England shortly after to be with family.

Other memories i have are of Roger Stubbly and his mobile shop, George and Rita Mildred, also in a mobile baker van. Mr Thomas who had the mace, and Mr Richards who had the v.g and post office combined. Happy days indeed.

Both mam,and dad sadly dead now,and im fast approaching 57. But my memories of Rippingale will
stay with me ALWAYS.

Happy,Happy Times.
