Semer Water is the largest natural lake in Yorkshire. It is drained by England's shortest river, the Bain, which runs into Wensleydale at Bainbridge. In this peaceful scene we see two boats tied up waiting for visitors in the shallows of Semer Water. Semer Water, which is about half a mile in length and covers about 100 acres, was formed by Ice Age glaciers gouging out the side dale known as Raydale.
