More about this scene

A closer view of the Ilchester Arms Inn. It is one of the oldest buildings in the area, dating from the 16th-century, with five bays of original timbering including curved trusses and wind-braces as well as inglenook fireplaces and exposed beams. The notice above the side door (right) tells us that the publican was Ernest Norris, licensed to sell beer and cider, with the latter still being produced locally into the new millennium.
