Bromley House ( 'b' Block)

A Memory of Walker.

We moved here in 1976 and it was known as the Rochester Estate although some people still referred to them as ''THE DWELLINGS'' .I think they had been recently updated and they were trying to change the image. Consequently the block letters had been changed to place names which were all towns in Kent. For example Block D became Dartford House, Block G Gillingham House etc.
We lived in number 1 which was a one bedroom flat on the ground floor. We didn't live there long as we had a new born baby and needed more room. So we lived there for about a year or so before being re-housed. Apart from it not being big enough, it was ok, we didn't have any bother.
I'm not sure about the next bit but I believe they were sold to the private sector in the 90's and have been substantially modernised and converted and some were demolished ( the one that we lived in being one of them). I think the estate is now called 'Kingsmere'.
