More about this scene

The rowing boats and solitary figure standing on the isolated shingle beach offer a rare glimpse of what is now part of the Army`s prohibited Lulworth Range. About 1,000 acres of land, extending five miles along the coast and five miles northwards, were taken over by the military during World War Two, and have yet to be returned to the public. But the local wildlife has benefited in spite of the tanks and artillery, and the area is now Dorset`s most outstanding refuge.
