Gally Hill Junior School

A Memory of Church Crookham.

My father was in the army and was stationed in Haig Lines in 1958. I went to the Gally Hill Junior CofE School which you can just see of the right of this picture. I was 9years old when we moved here and remember the long walk to and front school every day. Along Sandy Lane, crossing over Aldershot Road by the Memorial Hall, round the corner into Gally Hill Road and past The Wyvern pub. Going straight along Gally Hill Road past the Church of England church on the right ( this is were I was later confirmed and even later married) following the road round past the war memorial then on the right the school gate. We thought nothing of this walk but then we all walked to school in those days. Later when my father retired from the army we moved into a semi detached house in Chesilton Crescent on the Verne estate.

It was a happy school.
