1965 At Dawlish Warren
A Memory of Dawlish Warren.
I remember as if yesterday 1965 at Dawlish Warren and the carefree days of my youth spent with friends and nature there. I remember the song "we're all going to San Francisco" by Scott Walker ringing gently through the dunes as us youngsters passed time messing about as youngsters do. What lovely times they were, simpler times but we were happy just to spend time with nature, I can still hear the sand whispering through the grasses of the dunes, maybe nothing to many but so fondly remembered by me. I hope my friends from then may see this and think the same, maybe even get in touch if they see this.

The sound in the evenings of the curlews ,silence ,just sea and sand dunes.
We had a little cart which we fetched water from the old Roundhouse on the golf course .Another little cart which we left outside at the only shop under the railway bridge
With a list of grocery’s needed .8 hours later after catching the train back from school in Exeter the wee cart would be waiting with bread etc to be wheeled back over the golf course .The crust of the home baked crisp white loaf rarely got back
to Links End intact . Those were the days ,wonderful memories and hours and hours crawling around the spit opposite Exmouth harbour searching for courie shells ,maybe finding 3 or 4 in a morning ,probably seeing no one else .
