This section is a tour of the rolling oolitic limestone south-west part of Lincolnshire, until 1974 the County of Kesteven. We start in the Market Place of Grantham, a town of 30,000 whose medieval wealth was based on wool from the sheep grazing the Kesteven fields. Later an industrial town, it retains much of its Georgian and Victorian brick rebuilding of what had been a stone town.
