Harrowfield Girls School Janet Norris Nee Pizzie
A Memory of Harold Hill.
We moved to Sheffield Drive about 1952. A family of 8, two brothers, David and Michael, 3 sisters Anne, Marian and Rita. My childhood memories are the best. The girls all went to harrowfield girls school and the boys Harrowfield boys. We had many fun times over the woods next to where we lived, spent most if our school holidays over there, Dingley Dell always comes to mind and we played on the green cricket or football and we girls were always out there skipping with mums washing line. Our school was just up the road and I remember many friends, Jean Ditzel, Pauline and Linda Tremain, Pearl Newton to name a few. Also the boys as we had to walk past their playground to get to our school, Colin Timkey, Patrick Fay, Micky Spitnall. .I always remember my English Teacher in my last year there Mrs Thorpe. Sadly there are only two of us left now me and Rita. Dad died over 30yrs ago and mum coming up 10. Michael still lived in the house up till last year, but sadly we had to sell the house after his death which was the hardest thing to do. I had been seeing him every saturday, and often went over the woods with my little dog which was lovely. Such good memories of Harold Hill.

I remember playing football on the green opposite with your brother David and with Eric Hawkridge who lived at no 15. I'm still in contact with Jane Hawkridge and we frequently exchange messages. If my memory serves me correctly your elder sister Marion had a medical condition and could not walk too well, but apart from your brother David I think you were all younger than me. We lived a 23 Sheffield Drive; dad died in 1985 but mum continued there until her death in 2011. Like you clearing the house with all of the memories it held was difficult.
